On behalf of the International Symposium on Remote Sensing (ISRS) 2018 Organizing Committee and the Korean Society of Remote Sensing (KSRS), we are pleased to announce that the ISRS 2018 will be held at Alpensia Resort Convention Center in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea, from May 9-11th, 2018.
Recently, there are various global issues including environmental problems, disaster, national security and etc., and our society requires the earth information in an accurate and fast manner for these issues. Increasing number of remote sensing platforms and sensors provides more detailed information for our changing life and extends the developments of remote sensing techniques. In the beginning, remote sensing development was started to provide governments the global information for national defense and security, and now it provides various information to individuals for the convenience. Remote sensing applications can suggest timely and smart solution for sustainable development, terrestrial monitoring, environmental problem, and disaster management, and the applications are extending continually from global to nation and nation to individuals in many areas.
Since 2012, ISRS has been officially co-organized by KSRS, Chinese (Taipei) Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (CSPRS), Remote Sensing Society of Japan (RSSJ), and Standing Committee of Environmental Monitoring from Space of East Asia (EMSEA), and became a special event of the remote sensing field in East Asia. ISRS 2018 will offer an academic network and a scientific forum for academic scholars and students to exchange and share their experiences and research results for remote sensing techniques and applications.
PyeongChang city, the venue of ISRS 2018, is located in the beautiful Taebaek Mountains region and popular with mountain hiking and winter sports. It was announced as the host city of the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Paralympics, and the slogan of the PyeongChang Olympic is ‘Passion.
